THE ARVIGO TECHNIQUES OF MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY™
Dr. Rosita Arvigo with Don Elijio Panti (Mayan Shaman)
Maya Abdominal Therapy is an ancient technique that has been known and practiced by healers for thousands of years. It represents an unbroken chain of knowledge handed down from generation to generation of midwives, healers and shamans. It is an external, non-invasive and nurturing treatment of the abdominal and pelvic area that gently guides internal organs into their appropriate anatomical positions for optimum health and well being. The technique works by relieving diaphragmatic tension & congestion and blockages throughout the abdomen and pelvis to improve the flow of chi and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems. This therapy is effective for both men and women.
HISTORY
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapies™ are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage and other supportive tools. Based on over thirty years of training and experience, Dr. Arvigo combined her knowledge of anatomy, physiology, naprapathy (study of muscles, ligaments and connective tissue) with these traditional methods to form the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™. This modality incorporates a holistic approach to health through physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Dr. Arvigo believes that with any natural healing technique, these areas must be simultaneously addressed to promote optimal health. Dr. Arvigo learned these techniques from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the great Maya Shaman of Belize in Central America with whom she apprenticed for 10 years. Don Elijio believed that a woman’s centre is her uterus. “If a woman’s uterus is out of balance, so is she". Midwives and healers of Central America agree that most female troubles are caused by the wandering womb. Don Elijio passed away in 1996 at the age of 103. Rosita also studied with Hortence Robinson, an herbal midwife of Belize who practiced for over 60 years. She began assisting women in childbirth at the young age of 13.
Rosita founded the Arvigo Institute in 2000 and trains professionals world wide in these traditional healing arts. She is also the author of 6 books and the founder of the Ix Chel Tropical Research Foundation, the Traditional Healers of Belize, Rainforest Remedies and the Children’s Bush Medicine Camp.
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapies™ are offered as a supportive modality to enhance health and wellness, and are not meant as an entire approach to health care. If you have any serious medical conditions, please consult your health care provider first.
